About Me
Hi, I’m Kimberly Jones—an instructional designer, science educator, and lifelong learner passionate about creating meaningful, accessible learning experiences.
I hold a Master of Science in Learning Experience Design and Educational Technology from Western Governors University and a Master of Education in Secondary Education with a concentration in Talent and Transformation and a minor in Diversity Studies from Texas State University. I also earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Texas at Austin and began my career serving as a medic and behavioral health specialist in the U.S. military, later working in pediatric and postpartum nursing.
Since 2001, I’ve taught science in home education settings and homeschool co-ops, and I currently teach international middle and high school students through Dreaming Spires Home Learning. Dreaming Spires uses the Charlotte Mason philosophy of education, which emphasizes living books, meaningful experiences, and respect for the learner. These principles influence my own teaching strategies, especially in homeschool and small-group learning environments, and align well with my focus on inquiry-based instruction, cognitive load theory, and inclusive design.
I design interactive e-learning content using tools like Articulate 360, Moodle, and Google Workspace, specializing in engaging STEM curricula for diverse and neurodiverse learners. In 2025, I completed a capstone project investigating how chatbot integration affects cognitive load and learner experience in online modules. I am now building a professional portfolio to showcase my work and preparing to apply to a doctoral program in applied learning sciences with a focus on AI in education and learner-centered design.
When I’m not designing or teaching, you’ll find me reading, crafting, or exploring something new, because for me, learning is fun, exciting, and never really stops.
